Frequently Asked Questions

A hydronic heating system uses a boiler to heat water.

This water is circulated by a pump through piping connected to radiator panels in each room, and is channelled back to the boiler for reheating.

As heat gently transfers from the radiator panels, a programmable wall thermostat controls the temperature. Rooms warm up within minutes, increasing comfort throughout your home.

There is a world of difference between hydronic heating and ducted heating.

Not only is hydronic heating cleaner, quiet and draught-free, but its effectiveness in quickly heating a home to an optimum temperature is second to none.

A hydronic heating system also won’t generate any by-products commonly associated with ducted heating, such as dust circulation and an increase in aero-allergens.

These common triggers for asthma and other respiratory conditions will not be a problem in your home, nor will other recurrent ailments associated with ducted heating systems, such as sore eyes, coughs or dry throats.

Hydronic heating can be designed to fit most homes. The ideal time to install hydronic heating with minimal disruption is when you’re building a new home.

If your budget cannot quite stretch to a complete installation within a new home, you can keep costs down by installing all the necessary pipework and having the radiator panels and boiler fitted at a later date.

Many of our customers, past and present, also have hydronic heating installed into their existing homes.

Getting comfortably cosy in winter couldn’t be quicker or easier!

Definitely. It’s entirely feasible to have a mix of panel and underfloor heating run off the same hydronic heating system.

In fact, this may be the best combination for two storey homes, where underfloor heating is used to heat downstairs, with radiator panels upstairs.

As floor coils are laid in ‘zones’, the temperature of each area can be controlled separately with the use of thermostats in each room.

Yes! Underfloor heating can be installed in an existing property, on top of present slabs.

There may be some additional considerations to manage such as the need to raise internal doors, so if you have any questions about your current home and installing underfloor heating, please contact us.

Certainly. Underfloor heating can be used under many types of flooring, whether it’s timber, tiled, suspended floors or concrete.

– Note that care must be taken when selecting a timber floor to lay over an underfloor heating system. Talk to one of our advisers for more information.

Every home is different so the cost of installation varies.

As a guide, for an average three bedroom existing home with good underfloor access, approximately eight radiator panels would be installed, costing in the region of $10,000.

Although the initial outlay cost is higher than other less-effective systems, hydronic heating will save you money in the long run, with overall lower energy costs. And the difference in comfort is priceless. Contact us today for a free, no-obligation quote.

An installation at an average domestic house will take approximately three days, although depending on the size and layout of the home, it could be slightly longer.
